They quickly became known as Lea and Maria and received big doses of love and attention from the rescuers, BAWA founder Janice Girardi and all BAWA staff in range. Unfortunately, poor little Maria has a very badly deformed front left leg which she cannot manoeuvre and which she simply drags along.
Everyone is hoping so much that x-rays will show that Maria is suffering only from a nutritional deficiency, which BAWA has great success in working with, and that she will not need an amputation. Her back left leg also is injured and we are still waiting for news.

Whatever the outcome, we will soon need a very caring foster home and then a permanent home for these mistreated little siblings. In spite of them being abandoned, injured and in pain, they are so trusting, sweet and loving, kissing us and wagging their tails as best they can.
