SARI’S INCREDIBLE RESCUE

Our dedicated Emergency Response Team goes above and beyond to rescue distressed animals. They are on call 24 hours a day, and responded to nonstop emergencies in the month of October, continuously entering perilous situations to rescue animals.

One case in October is four-month-old Sari, who was reported to be stranded and seemingly defeated on the side of a deep ravine, with a cruel rope embedded in her flesh.

Thanks to Dewa Made, our rescue team captain, who skillfully descended the ravine, Sari is now safe and recovering. Without immediate intervention, she would have faced a grim fate. Watch the video for a glimpse into Sari’s journey and consider contributing to ensure her well-being. Your support can change lives and create a compassionate world for Bali’s animals.

With gratitude,

Janice Girardi and the BAWA team

TRANSFORMATION TUESDAY
Quadruple Edition

Meet Hemmie, HeiHei, Heather, and Helmi. When they were reported to the BAWA hotline after being pulled out of a rice sack getting washed out into waves at the beach, our ambulance rushed to the scene, but they had scattered.

Two of them were weak and still sitting on the beach; two others were found sleeping in a nearby shelter, while two others had already been taken by beachgoers. We rescued these remaining puppies, who were all suffering from bad scabies infections, and the two weakest pups were admitted to a vet clinic for round-the-clock care. Our four new recruits had a long way to go. But with treatment, nutritious meals, lots of baths and oil rubdowns, they made a complete recovery and have turned into (and we are speaking objectively here) some of the most ADORABLE puppies we’ve ever had!

One by one, this gorgeous litter has been adopted, leaving only sweet Helmi waiting for her chance to catch someone’s interest.

From being discarded like literal trash, these four pups could never have imagined what their lives would become – and it is all thanks to you. Your donations power our #RescueRehabRehome program down to every single detail – from their very first meal to medicines, to vaccines, to sterilisation surgery, to the staff that feed, bathe, clean up after, and care for them, right down to the car ride that delivers them to their new home and new, happy life. We can only transform lives this way with your help.

With gratitude,

Janice Girardi and the BAWA team

BAWA rescued this sweet but scared girl who was living alone scavenging for food. Chronic malnourishment, parasites, fungal and bacterial infections all delayed her body’s healing and recovery. She stayed in the clinic for months until her condition stabilised, and then moved to a BAWA facility for further rehabilitation. One staff member, in particular, would spend time sitting inside Dakota’s crate every day, offering treats and gently encouraging her to trust. This emotional aspect of rehabilitation is often the most intricate and slowest part, but it finally begins to pay off with dedication.

We give everything we can towards an animal’s medical needs, mental health, comfort, exercise, and nutrition, hitting all the pillars of animal care and welfare while preparing them for adoption. The work does not end when the animal is rescued; it is just the beginning and still requires hard work from many different people in many different teams.

Everything that we CAN do is only possible because of you. We need your support now so we can continue providing Dakota with the care she needs.

With gratitude
The BAWA team

LANA, DOG MEAT VICTIM,
BARELY ESCAPES WITH HER LIFE

DONATE TO STOP THE TORTURE

Lana, found in an area renowned for dog meat traders, must have escaped and lived for some time with this thick, deep wire embedded so deeply around her neck that it caused a horrific, deeply infected wound. It took several attempts for our expert team catcher Dewa Made to catch terrified Lana, but he was eventually able to arduously cut the wire out of her neck and fully reveal the huge cyst caused by her festering wound. It is a miracle that Lana is still alive. We can only imagine how painful this must have been for her to endure and how terrifying.

We rushed Lana to a clinic to treat her wounds and start medication to fight the deep and severe infection. Lana will have a long road to recovery due to the seriousness of her wound, but with your help she will heal and one day be able to lead the healthy, active lifestyle that every animal deserves.

We urgently need your help to pay the vet clinic bills because lovely Lana deserves a second chance at life. YOU are the difference between life and death for dogs like Lana. Without you, there is no hope. Will you donate now to fund the vital medical care that she needs?

We need to continue our tireless efforts to advocate and push through regulations against the dog meat trade. The cruel and brutal dog meat trade is one of the biggest threats to the lives of dogs in Bali, and to the very survival of the island’s beautiful indigenous Heritage Bali Dogs which are on the verge of extinction. Each year, many thousands of street dogs and family pets alike are poisoned, shot, or brutally beaten then snatched and slaughtered for consumption.

Only with your donations can we stop this cruelty. Donate now to stop thousands of dogs like Lana from being tortured.
